WELCOME TO DOGCOACH
Produced with care
Maybe you’ve seen the TV2 documentary about Bestseller, greenwashing, and the harsh production conditions in Bangladesh?
At DogCoach, we are far removed from those conditions — we do not produce in Bangladesh, nor under circumstances similar to what you saw in the documentary.
Still, as a consumer, it’s easy to be left with a bad impression of the entire textile industry.
We felt the same way.
That’s why we want to be completely transparent about how we work with responsibility in the production of all DogCoach products…
…so you, as a customer, can feel confident that your DogCoach clothing is made under fair and responsible conditions.
Our basis: Quality over “fast fashion”
We know that textile production always has an environmental impact. That’s why our goal is to make it as responsible as possible — and to continuously take steps in a better direction.
DogCoach is the opposite of fast fashion.
We design clothing made to last season after season. Durability and high quality are the foundation of our approach.
Long lasting and high quality
When your clothing lasts longer, you need to buy less often - and that’s one of the most sustainable choices you can make.
It costs us more to produce this way, and as a customer, you may often find cheaper alternatives with lower durability. But we believe this is the most responsible way to produce - and our way of taking better care of our shared future.
How we ensure a responsible production
No harmful chemicals
All our suppliers sign an agreement ensuring that DogCoach products comply with the EU REACH regulation.
This means:
- No banned chemicals such as phthalates, azo dyes, or PFAS
- No SVHC substances (Substances of Very High Concern) above 0.1%
- Only REACH-approved dyes and treatments
- Documentation and testing always available upon request
In short: DogCoach clothing is produced according to EU standards — safe for both people and the environment.
Factory checks and audits
- We have a dedicated representative in Asia, Andy, who regularly visits our factories.
- In addition, our production is inspected by V-Trust, Asia’s largest inspection company, which provides official reports on quality, working conditions, and safety.
Social and ethical standards
All suppliers are required to comply with either BSCI or SA8000 standards:
- BSCI: Prohibits child labor and forced labor, and ensures fair wages, working hours, and safe conditions.
- SA8000: An internationally recognized certification with even stricter requirements for audits and documentation.
Recycled materials
- Our upcoming Parka Jacket 10.0 is the first DogCoach style made from 100% recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles.
- Documented with official certifications and reviewed by sustainability consultants from Dansk Mode & Textil.
Responsible production
At DogCoach, we design clothing that lasts season after season.
Recycled materials
We are continuously working to use more recycled materials, but we never compromise on quality - because durability remains the most sustainable solution.
As deposit return systems for plastic bottles are not yet widely implemented in Asia, we believe it is still better to reuse plastic from these regions rather than letting it go to waste.
The TV2 documentary attempts to present recycled polyester made from plastic bottles as entirely negative. However, according to Plastic Change and the Danish Consumer Council TÆNK, the discussion is not that black and white:
“It’s a relevant discussion, but it also contains many nuances. Ideally, polyester should be recycled from fiber to fiber, but large-scale solutions are still lacking. Recycled polyester made from plastic bottles does have benefits and is therefore a step in the right direction,” says Marie Busck, Chief Sustainability Officer at DM&T.
She also emphasizes that recycled polyester does not come from the Danish deposit system. The bottles typically originate from countries without well-functioning collection systems or closed recycling loops.
At the same time, it’s important not to base an entire sustainability strategy solely on materials, she explains:
“As a company, you need a broader focus than just materials. You need a much wider perspective on the circular transition and also work on preventing waste. But recycling is still an essential part of the solution.”

Why you can feel confident choosing DogCoach
At DogCoach, we are always working to improve.
Work in progress…
We closely follow developments in the textile industry and continuously challenge traditional production methods and materials. For us, it’s essential to ensure high quality and long durability, so your clothing lasts as long as possible.
In the coming years, we will also strengthen our focus on repairs — including repair kits, so zippers, buttons, and small tears can be fixed instead of replacing the entire product.
In addition, we’ve created WANTED, our resale platform where you can buy, sell, or trade your DogCoach clothing for free — helping extend its lifespan even further.
As a consumer, you also play an important role: choose quality, take good care of your clothing, and wash it as little as possible — preferably without fabric softener and at low temperatures. That way, it will last longer.
We believe you deserve to know how your clothing is made. That’s why we’re open — and always happy to answer your questions.
