Dear all dog lovers! 🐾
Today I would like to share my enthusiasm for dog training, especially rally and obedience training. We do it ourselves, but only in a "for fun" group.
For Rudy and me, it has been a huge pleasure and a huge enrichment. I love how training strengthens the bond between us. Every time we train, I feel like we are getting closer to each other. It is not only fun to watch him learn new tricks and commands, but also incredibly rewarding. Despite the fact that he is 8 years old, there is something very special about seeing your dog understand and perform a new exercise - it fills me with pride and joy every time.

Rudy definitely loves it too. He is always so eager and happy when we start training – after all, there are some nice treats on the way too. I can see how it gives him a lot of mental and physical stimulation. He gets to use his energy in a constructive way, and it makes him more relaxed and content in the days after training.
One of the best things about training in general is how much we both learn. I have gained a good understanding of my dog's signals and behavior, and this has made it easier for me to communicate with him. At the same time, I see how he learns to trust me and follow my instructions. It has created a strong sense of trust and cooperation between us, which I really appreciate. It was also this trust that meant that we were able to easily learn to cut his nails ourselves, which was impossible when he was younger.

Mentally, the training has also done a lot for both of us. For me, it is a great satisfaction to see progress and achieve new goals with my dog. It gives me a sense of pride and achievement. It is also clear that the new challenges keep Rudy's brain active and sharp, which is important for his well-being in everyday life.
All in all, obedience training is one of the best things I have ever done for us. It brings so much joy, learning, and togetherness into our lives. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. It's a high-level experience and collaboration that can truly enrich both your life and your dog's.
Remember that you should never let yourself be pressured by other people's levels, and that it's perfectly okay to just exercise for fun and irregularly if that's how it fits into your life. A little exercise is better than nothing.
If you just have fun, then everything will work out. The training sessions where Rudy doesn't learn anything new, we just practice the old tricks, and otherwise we get to work out our abs from pure laughter.
