I was sitting on the couch one evening with my phone in one hand and the other buried in my dog's soft fur. Marvin was lying in the classic "legs in the air" position, snoring soundly next to me. My gaze caught a quote. Some people are lucky to have a good friend - The luckiest have a dog.
I think about how lucky I am. I have good friends and I also have a dog. The friendship between my dog and I is great, and I am incredibly grateful for the bond we have. Wherever I am, he is, whenever possible.
Friendships are formed in all directions. Between dogs and people. For example, we regularly meet two of his siblings. The always happy fur rockets Chillie and Milo.
Dogs are very similar and yet so different. Just like us dog owners.
It's not just Marvin and his siblings who enjoy these meetings. We dog owners do too.
It started with a shared interest in our dogs and developed into a friendship between three dogs and three women. The conversation is about the dogs, of course, but also about everything else. The dogs? They run around and play. There is life and happy days.
Also on the couch are Hunter and Tiger. Our two cats. I would be lying if I said they always agree. One moment they are lying close together in my bed, and the next they are romping around in the garden. Most of the time they enjoy each other's company. It is interesting to see how much they enjoy each other. Even if they sometimes misunderstand each other's signals. But luckily they figure it out anyway.
When we have guests, Marvin is always interested in who is coming. He greets most people with a wagging tail. Some he just has to look at. But there is one person he is definitely more happy to see than anyone else. Namely my mother. Then the rest of us come second. Maybe because there is almost always something exciting going on, from his point of view, when she comes by. Rules are bent and Marvin stretches them.
I get up from the couch. Marvin rolls his eyes. It's bedtime. He knows exactly what I'm going to do now. He knows my habits and I know his. A quick pee in the garden. I might as well go with him, because otherwise he won't bother. He finds his beloved teddy bear and is now waiting for me to finish.
Now I write teddy bear. I should probably write one of the three identical teddy bears he has.
A brown donkey of three different ages. He always gets one for Christmas and for his birthday. He has lots of toys, but that teddy bear is his favorite. He plays with it, drags it around and sleeps with it. It's everywhere.
The quote is saved on my phone. Marvin, the teddy bear and I snuggle under the covers, and sleep catches up with us.

Behind the blog
Charlotte is approaching 50. She works in accounting by day. She loves taking pictures, writing and reading, is interested in healthy eating and gluten-free baking. She spends a lot of time growing vegetables and gardening.
Marvin is a brown 4-year-old stubborn and happy cocker spaniel. He is a spoiled couch dog, family dog and home-trained service dog. He loves teddy bears and new adventures. As long as there is no vacuum cleaner in the adventure.
