Bulldog on Instagram

Bulldog på Instagram

Rudy is my 7-year-old bulldog and has been promoting various brands on social media since he was 2 years old. He loves being in front of the camera, and when I think about our journey as a “micro-influencer” on Instagram, everything still seems a little surreal. A journey that we would of course like to share with you readers - who knows, maybe there are some “influencers” hiding among you.

Our journey began with me borrowing my father's camera. I wanted to take pictures, and since I didn't have any children, Rudy became my "victim".

The pictures were shot in auto mode and were definitely not the best quality, but I was still sold on Rudy's charisma in the pictures.
Rudy also seemed to enjoy it. He enjoyed the attention in front of the camera and being treated to snacks and toys during the task.

I also started producing my own dog equipment, which gave me an extra reason to use Rudy as a model when I had to present new designs.

Before I knew it, we had an Instagram profile, and our many friends became the first 400 followers.

I then decided to take the next step. I found an e-book that contained a small guide on how to build a good Instagram profile.

I learned to edit my photos so that Rudy was always highlighted.

I started using hashtags, which sent my photos around people's homepages.

I started thinking about what time of day my posts were published.

My posts became more descriptive and personal.
I also made our profile clear and recognizable by making the biography informative about us. And our profile picture also had to be clear so that people could recognize us.

The e-book also informed me that it was important to interact with other profiles. This was about creating relationships, which was crucial if you wanted to grow your profile.

Before long, we had hit 1,000 followers, which was “The Golden Number” for us.

Imagine if there were 1,000 profiles who wanted to follow our everyday lives.

1000 profiles who thought we were interesting to read about.
1000 profiles who thought we deserved their likes and comments daily.

I then decided to contact some companies that have products that we really like. This was to see if they might be interested in collaborating with us. Unfortunately, we didn't have much luck with this.
Time passed, but we kept our spirits up and focused on what we thought was fun; entertaining our followers. Then one day we got a positive response. We were lucky enough to be on the ambassador team at Best Friend. It was, and still is, huge for us.

The job involves taking super delicious pictures with their products, so Rudy is constantly spoiled with snacks and toys.

Rudy is constantly evolving in front of the camera. You can feel the joy in him, and he radiates absolutely fantastic in pictures. I have a soft spot for him when he turns his head in the best baby-face style, and then he can even wave and reach for the products.

He's having a party in front of the camera, and his tail wags every time I take out the camera. He knows exactly what's going to happen next.

We now have +1600 followers who faithfully follow our lives.

Rudy is still in front of the camera, and every now and then we also take some family photos for our Instagram.

In the first picture, for example, we are on a Sunday walk. I am wrapped up in the most beautiful jumpsuit from DogCoach – yes, that advertisement was an obvious one to make here for the blog :D
