About walking the dogs.

"Now she must soon be able to do what she has to..."

“Is it really necessary to keep training with her?”

“Then you don’t need to train with the next dog, do you?”

“I didn't think you'd go to training with her, when you know how to do it…”

“Do you really have to get up so early on the weekend?” (said with astonishment in your voice)

“Do you spend your DAY OFF working out?” (said with even more astonishment in his voice)

dog training

The above statements come from my first years with a dog, and are probably something I could have asked myself before I got my first dog 5 years ago, and it went downhill quickly – some will say, I now think it has gone uphill, but we can probably quickly agree that I have completely fallen in love with dogs. And I LOVE it!!

I freely admit that the plan at the time, when I was persuaded by the rest of the family to get a dog, was for my husband to go to puppy training, because he had to be raised properly and not be such an unruly dog that jumped and all sorts of other terrible things. AND it had to be vacuumed daily, because dog hair was one of the worst!!!
You don't have to know me very well to know that a little has happened over the last 5 years, in fact already during the first months, when I took over puppy training after the first time... And since then, no one else has been allowed to train with MY dogs, which I am now learning to jump up on me... The dog hair is often in tufts in the corners, my socks are full of them underneath, and I couldn't care less!!

Puppy training turned into working dog training, obedience, sport training, rally, parkour, agility, tricks, HTM/Freestyle, Nose Work and much more. Why? Because it's fun!! Molly, my oldest dog, has been my guinea pig and teacher, and we've been through most of it before we've now landed on what we're most passionate about: HTM/Freestyle and Nose Work.

But it's not really important where we've landed, even though we love being right there - the most important thing is that we've had fun together the whole way, we've developed together, and we've learned a lot together.
TOGETHER is exactly the essence of dog training for me, it's the reason I train so much with both of my dogs, and it's why I intend to keep going as long as they possibly can, which hopefully is many years to come.
Training with my dogs is something very special to me, one that teaches me something new every day, gives me a lot of energy and joy, and one that I wouldn't do without for anything in the world - it can't be described, but has to be experienced, so maybe in a way I can still understand the questions I once received from non-dog people...
