You know the concept of skin hunger, right? - otherwise you can read about it here . I don't suffer from skin hunger, because I have a husband who is loving, and we have a great time together. I'm also good at kissing and hugging my girlfriends - and dad, AND OTHERS' DOGS...
My own darling Fjolle is not the most generous in the world on the touch front...
He's not supposed to touch me (!), of course, but I miss the fact that he often came over and wanted to be petted. He doesn't. He's actually like a cat. He comes over to us when he's ready to be touched/sniffed/petted.
Caress me
He comes to the couch at half past six almost every evening, where he knows I'm hungry for food - and there he insists on cuddling and petting for about twenty minutes. Then I don't move from my spot (because I get so touched and happy) that I'm at his mercy for twenty minutes - and cuddling and sweet words are said - in droves...

Grooming
Fjolle gets groomed/brushed every day. I also take that as a nice time. He doesn't...
However, I have made him comfortable with the process with the help of clicker training and lots of treats. I love our grooming session, and I (and Maria Salon Glad Hund) are the only two who have such sessions with him. I see it as a mother's most important task that he is comfortable when he is being treated with a brush and comb. It is a pain with a dog that does not like being touched, but since he is a loving boy who would never say no with bites and other things (and since I am patient) - it has been possible <3
Floor and sofa
When I was in a wheelchair for 3 months I had to find alternative methods to brush him. It was on the couch, while I sat completely crooked in the wheelchair, but Fjolle took it so well and just followed my situation. I was so proud of him.
Now I still can't (and won't for the next year) squat or sit on the floor without a backrest near me that I can stand up from. We figure that out by brushing and grooming close to the sofa on the floor - so I can easily stand up again. It's so nice, because we find opportunities TOGETHER...

A dog with a disability
No, it's a dog with A DISABILITY. It's me. I have MS - and have been through a nasty knee operation and a major attack. Fjolle has been so talented. I'm lucky that we have a fantastic network of people who love us - and therefore have been able to walk with him when I couldn't.
When I had to learn to walk again, he was a real CHAMP, quietly and calmly following my gait - both walking STRAIGHT - and walking up stairs. He is simply so sweet and special in that regard - also...
I thank the higher powers that such a type of dog like him has landed with me - even though I die a little from fur hunger every day - but it only eats away at the reserves that Jan so abundantly replenishes.
Has anyone here also met and loved a dog with "touch anxiety"??? – a kind of "cat dog"???

Behind the scenes of this week's blogger
We are Fjolle and Ibbe. Fjolle is a PBGV. I am – yes, a person who sometimes wishes that “I was just a dog”. Fjolle is my second dog. My first dog, Blop, was given to me as a gift by my husband when I became seriously ill. Fjolle and I are looking forward to being part of this wonderful BLOG UNIVERSE.
Can you die of fur starvation?
