How do you find time for that?

Hvordan får du tid til det?

Where do you get the time from?

Do you have more hours in the day than the rest of us?

How do you find time for it all?

To start from one end of:

1) Same place as everyone else I would think?!

2) No immediately...?

3) But do I do it?

Granted, I get a lot done, but as far as I know, I have the same number of hours in a day as everyone else, I don't have a secret time bank, I borrow a little from time to time (although I wish I did!), and there are definitely things I don't have time for, or don't prioritize.

Yes, I get a lot of training with the dogs, yes, I participate in as many competitions as possible, yes, I teach, yes, I take courses, and yes, I do that alongside my life as a mother of 4, someone's wife, and full-time job as a school secretary.

But there are also things I don't do, don't reach, don't prioritize, or however you choose to phrase it - I just don't dwell on them and don't spend my energy on them.

I should undoubtedly sleep more, clean more, exercise more, and I should probably do a whole lot more, but the situation is such that I have chosen to delete the word SHOULD from my active vocabulary... Why go and beat yourself up about things you should do when you either can't, don't feel like it, or don't have time? I certainly don't feel like it and instead prioritize spending energy on what gives me energy and joy.

And what does all this have to do with dogs, you might be thinking?

Back to how I find time for it all... I don't know who defines what it all is, but for me, in this case, it's what makes me whole, and that's where the dogs come into the picture. (I'm thinking that you, as a reader of this blog, are a dog person yourself, but the dogs can be replaced with anything: Books, music, sports, knitting, you name it...)

So how do I find time for it all, or how do I find time for what makes me whole? I prioritize it! Is it at the expense of other things? Yes, it is, because I, like everyone else, only have 24 hours a day, and as I said, I also have a husband, 4 children and a full-time job, but the time that is left, I prioritize spending on dogs.

It's MY choice, and there are probably many who don't understand, but that's their problem, not mine. I become a better version of myself, I become a more whole me, when I prioritize training with my dogs, competing with my dogs, participating in association work, teaching, and taking courses to learn more about dog training. I not only learn more about dog training in that process, but also to a great extent about myself, and I love it!
