Spring is in the air.

Der er forår i luften

My beloved Fjolle is a sun dog. He loves the sun. He hates rain. He detests rain and wind. He jumps over puddles - and could never dream of bathing.

Dogs

He is lucky to have been born with GRIFFON-scruffy fur, so he never needs a bath. I do floor washing with a washcloth on him once in a while. You know the beard, the tail and the belly – but otherwise he doesn't need a bath. He also rarely gets dirty, because he doesn't walk in mud and puddles. Wet grass without mud is fine, but dry grass in the sun is the best there is.

Everything in the sun is good; sunbathing, sleeping, resting, gnawing on a stick, being cuddled, playing with friends, gnawing on a real meat bone, etc.

Fool is a sun dog.

Freshly trimmed and ready for spring and the sun

When spring came – with sunshine – my winter-depressed dog perked up. He wanted to go out again and take long walks, play and hang out with his friends.

I call him MY LITTLE FERDINAND because he's the type of dog who takes the time to stand and sniff a flower for a looooong time. Not just because the flower may have been peed on by a hot bitch or a friend – maybe an enemy – he sniffs no matter what.

Even though he's at the water with a friend who's a water dog, who even invites him to play in the water, he just stands there and says, "Come on land, get away from that water, you'll get wet"... So, silly guy...

My old dog Blop was a water dog. He loved to splash and swim by the sea. He didn't like the rain, but he would wade through puddles and take it with equanimity when the weather showed its teeth.

That's why I've had both a water dog and a sun dog.
I love them both equally.

I also loved a mud dog. A dog that wasn't mine, but that always bathed in mud puddles. She was so dirty – or rather dirty all the time, and my friend's home looked like the Roskilde Festival site - after…

That's why I'm actually quite comfortable with the two dogs I've had permanently living in my home; a water dog and a sun dog.

What about your dogs? Are they into mud baths? Sun beds? Surfboards?

Do you have mud dogs? Do you have sun dogs? Do you have water dogs? Or a mix of all three?

We are welcoming spring - Foolish with Celine and Siva

I think it's so funny that dogs are so different. Mine were the same breed, but they are as different as two snowflakes. They are/were also unique as two snowflakes.

I am grateful that I get to learn about dogs from two such different teachers – like Blop and Fjolle. Thank you for the lessons and insights beloved dogs in my Universe – my own – and all the sweet dogs I love that are in my life. Wisdom from dogs is important learning for us humans.

“We are different – but we all understand dog language.”

Hugs and sunshine from Fjolle & Ibbe - enjoy the sun.

Behind the week's blog:

We are Fjolle and Ibbe. Fjolle is a PBGV. I am – yes, a person who sometimes wishes that “I was just a dog”. Fjolle is my second dog. My first dog, Blop, was given to me as a gift by my husband when I became seriously ill. Fjolle and I are looking forward to being part of this wonderful BLOG UNIVERSE.
