How do you have the very best summer vacation? It depends on who you are and what you want, but I know what MY very best summer vacation looks like, because I'm in the middle of it - or rather at the end, but that's okay, because it's been absolutely perfect!
As a school secretary, I have 4 weeks of vacation, and it seems like a really long time when you start the vacation, but suddenly it's over. I've learned that I don't want to sit back in the last few days and think that there was a lot I didn't get done that I really wanted to do. On the other hand, I've also learned that there needs to be room for little breathers in between – there needs to be room to just sit with a cup of coffee and a book without having to do anything else.

Traveling is great, but I can easily do without it, and in reality I would rather do without traveling than my dogs. I'm not very good at heat either, so I have no need to go outside Denmark's borders, but I still like to get away for a bit, so what do you do?
We have been to Bornholm for a few years now, and for me it is the perfect place to spend a summer holiday: It is cozy, it is beautiful, there is plenty to do, there is a lot of beautiful nature to go for walks in, and it is the perfect place to take the dogs, so we have spent a week there again this year with the children, daughters-in-law and my parents.

The middle two weeks have been a perfect combination of training with the dogs in the morning, and relaxation or plans with the family in the afternoon and evening, spiced up with a little teaching and a single rally test – the girls have been active while the rest of the family has been sleeping and at work, and when we have come home, they have been tired and needed to rest, while the rest of us have done something without them – absolutely perfect!
For me, it's the perfect way to spend a vacation!!
But I have the very best: 5 days of Nose Work!!! First two days of full-day course and then three days of Summer Camp – what's not to love?
The fact that it's so well planned that the rest of the family is in Spain while I'm nerding out with the dogs and a lot of other passionate dog people just makes it even better.
The perfect vacation exists, and mine looked like this this year.
Fortunately, we each decide for ourselves what our vacation should look like. For me, it has been an absolutely perfect way to spend my 4 weeks, and I'm sure the dog girls completely agree with me, although they are probably looking forward to me starting work again so they can sleep all day...
Behind the scenes of this week's blogger
My name is Mia, I am 44 years old, married, have 4 children and 2 F1 Labradors, Molly, 5 years old, and Selma, 2 years old, whom I spend almost all my free time training. We train and compete primarily in HTM/Freestyle and Nose Work - two disciplines in which I am also a DKK judge.
When I'm not training my own, I'm teaching others, braiding paracord, reading crime novels, or blogging.
