There are now 2.5 months until DogDays 2019 takes place, and we are LOOKING FORWARD to seeing you at 8 amazing workshops.
One of them is: Help, my dog can't get along with other dogs w/ Dog trainer & behavior consultant Regitze Acacie, CopenhagenerSnuden
The theme is dogs who have difficulty with other dogs.
Maybe your dog has been attacked, or has had bad experiences and now doesn't enjoy interacting with others?
Here you will get specific exercises and tools to help your dog through encounters with other dogs. You will get down to dog level and learn which signals you should pay attention to in your dog.

We have asked presenter Regitze Acacie 5 questions about her dog world and involvement in DogDays 2019 - Read here:

What are you most looking forward to sharing at DogDays?
My knowledge. An event like this attracts a lot of committed and curious dog owners. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone like me, who is passionate about educating on behalf of dogs. A better forum couldn't be wished for and I'm so happy and proud to have been invited once again :-)
-
What will you focus on in the workshop?
My workshop is about "dog and dog". I have SO much I want to tell and demonstrate, but boiled down to the bone, my main message is that dogs are different. Not all dogs love other dogs and that's okay. Know your dog - help your dog. With really few steps you can make a huge difference and the key lies in understanding the dog's point of view.
-
What are you most passionate about in the dog sports/world?
The cooperation between dog and owner and the fact that we owners get down to the dog's level and understand our dogs. Through understanding, it suddenly becomes much easier to be a dog owner, as we tend to complicate things far too much. My topic is super relevant to exactly this, as we as dog owners often have a need and perhaps even an expectation that dogs should greet and play together. It becomes our needs that we attribute to the dog, with a great risk of violating either our own or other dogs' boundaries. We actually help create a conflict that is not necessarily present from the beginning.
-
What do you experience as the biggest challenge in general within your field?
Old training methods built on leadership and dominance theories. Solution models where hard is to be met with hard and it all ends up being the dog's fault. If you as a dog owner are not willing to work with your own mistakes and shortcomings, then I simply cannot help.

What is the most important thing to be the best possible dog owner?
Understanding, acceptance and love <3
